New Donations

The Port Hope Archives’ collection continues to grow with the generous donations from past and present members of the Port Hope community, organizations and businesses.  Below are examples of some of the recent donations to the Archives.

In July 2008, a donation was made to the PHA of photographs of the happenings at the Nicholson File Company, ca. 1905.  The donor is the great-grandson of factory manager, Henry Charles Bailey. H. C. Bailey relocated to Port Hope with his family in 1902 from Kent, Ohio.

If you recognize anyone in the photographs, please contact the PHA to share  your information.

Pat the horse was known for being able to drive the Nicholson File Co. wagon to the post office on Queen Street and back with very little influence from the driver.  H. C. Bailey is in the doorway.
