"Our Memories: Downtown Port Hope" Oral History Project

At the Port Hope Archives we try to pick a new project to do every year.  The project for 2013 is an oral history entitled “Our Memories: Downtown Port Hope.”  It will be conducted over the spring and summer months by interviewing various residents and business owners in town, filming the interviews for inclusion in the archives collection.

There are several goals for the project:
  • To gather first-hand accounts of historic Port Hope businesses in the downtown core…
  • To document individual memories of downtown events and buildings…
  • To create a visual document that highlights the vibrant past and present of Port Hope’s downtown area…
  • To show YOUR memories to the world on the internet – and in the archives – for future generations.

If you have ever owned or worked for a business in downtown Port Hope and would like more information on the project download the pamphlet and flyer or contact us.
